Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 in the United States, when more than 20 million people took to the streets to express their support for environmental protection. The initiator of the holiday was Gaylord Nelson, a senator from Wisconsin, who wanted to draw attention to environmental problems and raise awareness among the population.

Goals of Earth Day

How Earth Day is Celebrated
